About Anna

Hi, I’m Anna. I love working with adolescents and adults as they seek to realize a life, they can fully thrive in.

Along with my passion for clinical social work I believe in a whole-body wellness approach and work as clinical dietitian for the University of Missouri Healthcare system. At MU Healthcare I provide medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling for a variety of medical conditions, but I specialize in eating disorder recovery. I aspire to empower individuals to improve their health and quality of life by giving them the tools and resources to achieve their individual goals.

Through my lifetime I developed a passion for not only nutrition and health, but also a human beings potential for growth. As a clinical therapist and dietician, it is my goal to help people have a better relationship with food and their bodies.

Service Rate & Insurance

Anna’s rate is $105 per therapy hour, $120 for the initial assessment. Anna is in-network with United Healthcare and is considered an out-of-network provider for all other insurances.

Focus Areas & Specialties

I work with adolescents and adults. I specialize in eating disorders, disordered eating and body image issues. I also treat substance use disorders, anxiety, depression and personality disorders. I am especially passionate about helping women in mid-life transitions such as menopause, career changes, “empty nesting” or relationship changes.

Therapeutic Training & Background

I am trained in Radically Open Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (RO-DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I am under the supervision of Kelsey Esser, MSW, LCSW. I am a licensed Master Social Worker. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, an Associates of Science degree in Human Services.

I have extensive training in the treatment of eating disorders. In addition to the many years I have worked as a dietician, I have worked as a student clinician and volunteered locally at the Integrative Behavioral Health Clinic (IBHC) providing individual therapy, group skills, case management services and educating providers on the importance of screening practices to identify individuals at risk for eating disorders.

Professional Style

In my own life, I have seen how medical and mental illness impact all aspects of a person and how important an integrated healthcare approach is when helping people heal the entirety of who they are as physical, emotional, and spiritual beings. I utilize a strengths-based perspective and employ empowerment theory when working with clients. These theories add depth and breadth in my ability to empathize, validate and empower others to achieve their full potential.

Key elements of my success in both professions are my ability to listen, empathize, reflect, and validate clients. Clients can expect that I will provide a safe, supportive, and collaborative therapy space as they seek to create positive change in their lives.

Clients appreciate my warmth, sense of humor, dedication, and easy-going personality. I strive to meet clients where they are, I am patient and accepting of all people and feel honored to be a part of someone’s journey.
